Type: Teaching and Research Collaboration

Cooperations with the Brazilian Institute for Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) and with the State University Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP)
The cooperations of the Master's Degree with the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) and with the State University of São Paulo "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP), aim at the interaction of the local knowledge with the advances obtained in Brazil and in other countries, highlighting the recognition and importance of these two institutions related to Information Science, being fundamental to the access of new methodologies, techniques and processes that involve both the sociopolitical and technological aspects of information, as well as in the internal reflection of the available alternatives of application in the informational flow according to the demands of the Amazon Region. In the case of UNESP, the PPGCI faculty maintains cooperation in research and extension projects and also participates in research groups.

RESEARCH
Project "Transamazonian Network of Cooperation in Information and Knowledge for Sustainable Development", which aims to create cooperation networks sensitized to the socio-economic, cultural, political and technological implications related to this problematic, in its broadest sense, between the North Region (UFPa) and the Southeast Region (Unesp and IBICT/UFRJ), represented by their graduate programs, leaders in the field of Information Science (IC) in Brazil. Participating in the project are the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) of Unesp/Marília, the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) of IBICT/UFRJ, and the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) of UFPa. Cooperation with the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi 
The Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) maintains cooperation with the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi in the development of actions aimed at improving the management of environmental information, a subject of great interest and that needs to be effectively improved to enable access and use by researchers, students and society in general.  

The Museum is also present in several research projects of the PPGCI, among them, those coordinated by Professor Alegria Benchimol, such as the projects "Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi: Ciências Humanas: History and Development", which seeks to conduct an analysis of the Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, emphasizing its importance and contributions to scientific research in the Amazon; and "The documentation of the Aparai Collection (1915/1935-1937) of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, whose objective is to trace the trajectory of the German researchers Curt Nimuendajú (1915) and Otto Schulz-Kampfhenkel (1935-1937) in the Amazon and their connections with the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi.


Amazonian Museums in Network
Professor Alegria Benchimol, through the research project "Networked Amazonian Museums", maintains a partnership with the Musée des Cultures Guyanaises (French Guiana) and the Stichting Surinaams Museum (Suriname), for the valorization and visibility of their ethnographic collections, through the conception and feeding of an online catalog = www.amazonian-museum-network.org and also to find joint solutions for contemporary issues regarding cultural heritage.


Expanding cooperation with the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) 
The objective of the Master's in Information Science to extend the cooperation with UFMA is justified by the interest of the professors involved, as well as by the fact that the institutions are located in states in distinct regions, but with similar social characteristics. With this, the focus on information is an opportunity to carry out studies and research in cooperation that bring alternatives for the valorization of information in all the stages of local and regional development.


Collaborations at UFPA's institutional level 
PPGCI faculty members are involved in various teaching and research activities with other post-graduate programs at UFPA. Professor Dr. Marise Teles Condurú, for example, is a permanent professor of the Post-Graduate Program in Hydric Resources, in the research line Planning, Management and Handling of Hydric Resources, supervising a student. She is also an invited professor of the Graduate Program in Natural Resource Management and Local Development in the Amazon, having co-supervised a student in 2015. Prof. Dr. Hamilton Vieira de Oliveira also collaborates in Graduate Programs at UFPA, having recently participated in the Graduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology as a member of the thesis advisory board of the doctoral student Roberto Lopes de Jesus and in the same condition of the advisory board of the master's student José Messiano Trindade Ramos. Collaborated with the Post-Graduate Program in Natural Resources of the Amazon, of the Center for Environment of UFPA, in the board of the master's student Paulo Cesar Chagas Maia and with the Post-Graduate Program in Public Management of the Center for High Amazonian Studies in the qualification of the dissertation of a master's student oriented by Prof. Dr. Adagenor Lobato Ribeiro.


EXTENSION
The project "Archive of the Tatuoca Magnetic Observatory: preservation and data digitization of the physical record generated between1957 and 2007", in association between PPGCI, the Faculty of Archivology (FAARQ UFPA), the Institute of Geosciences (IG UFPA), and the National Observatory (ON Brazil), This project seeks to organize and preserve under scientific archival techniques the physical record of the Archive of the Magnetic Observatory of Tatuoca Island, generated between 1957 and 2007, for its later digitization, under the technical requirements indicated by the School of Geophysics, the National Observatory, and the Network of World Observatories.

International

Collaborations with foreign universities
PPGCI's cooperation with foreign universities aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and cultures between researchers, groups and institutions, the exchange of professors and students, and joint action in projects of global interest. Prof. Dr. Thiago Henrique Bragato Barros has partnerships in research projects at the University of Manitoba, Canada; Profs. Hamilton Vieira and Armando Malheiro da Silva signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Library School and the University of Porto, Portugal. Professor Cristian Berrío Zapata has a partnership with research groups from the Escuela de Administración de Negocios (EAN) in Colombia, and the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico.

University of York, England
The University of York collaborates with UFPA's PPGCI through the project "I KnowFood - Integrating Knowledge for Food Systems Resilience", promoted by the N8 AgriFood Project and the Global Food Security Fund on Food System Resilience. This project is articulated with the project "Transamazon Network of Cooperation on Information and Knowledge for Sustainable Development", to promote the exchange of knowledge and development of partnerships and projects for the promotion of effective sustainability in the governance of global value chains, through local/global information and knowledge flows on agrifood value chains in the Amazon. With this object the first joint event of UFPA and the University of York, "I Know Food Workshop", was developed on February 18, 2019.

 
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia
The PPGCI of UFPA has a cooperation agreement with this university, through its faculty of Ciencia de la Información y Bibliotecología, both regarding the integration of teachers and students in different teaching and research activities, and in the participation of the project "Transamazonian Network of Cooperation in Information and Knowledge for Sustainable Development". As an initial event of this partnership, the lecture of the Librarian's Day at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, was delivered on March 21, 2019 in Bogotá by Professor Cristian Berrío Zapata of the PPGCI.


University of Porto, Portugal
The PPGCI of UFPA has a cooperation agreement with this university, through its Department of Communication and Information Sciences of the Faculty of Letters, both regarding the integration of teachers and students in different teaching and research activities, and in the participation of the project of the "Transamazonian Network of Cooperation in Information and Knowledge for Sustainable Development". In this context, Professor Armando Malheiros from the University of Porto gave a lecture on the relationship between Documentation and Information Sciences and sustainability on September 5, 2019 in Belém.


University of Murcia, Spain
The PPGCI of UFPA is developing a research and cooperation plan with this university, through Professor Isidoro Gil-Leiva of the Faculdade de Comunicación y Documentación, who visited the PPGCI of UFPA under the invitation of Professor Franciele Marques Redigolo, with resources from the PACI Edital of UFPA, to discuss teaching and research activities, and his participation of the project of the "Transamazonian Network of Cooperation in Information and Knowledge for Sustainable Development". In this context, the professor delivered a lecture on automated indexing on September 4, 2019 in Belem.
